  1. E.1: Write down the SI unit for the each of the following quantities:
    A. length
    B. time
    C. mass
    D. quantity of matter
    length (m); time (s); mass (kg); quantity of matter (mol)
    E.2: For each of the following units, write down the symbol and what power of 10 it represents:
    A. millimetre
    B. centimetre
    C. metre
    D. kilometre
    millimetre (mm) = 10-3m
    centimetre (cm) = 10-2m
    metre (m) = 10o m
    kilometre (km) = 103m
    E.3: For each of the following symbols, write out the unit in full and write what power of 10 it
    represents:
    A. µg
    B. mg
    C. kg
    D. Mg
    µg = 10-6g; mg = 10-3g; kg = 103g; Mg = 106g
    E.4: Write each of the following in scientific notation, correct to 2 decimal places:
    A. 0,00000123 N
    B. 417 000 000 kg
    C. 246800 A
    D. 0,00088 mm
    0,00000123 N = 1,23.10-6N
    417 000 000 kg = 4,17.108kg
    246800A = 2,46.105A
    0,00088mm = 0,88.10-3mm
    E.5: Rewrite each of the following, using the correct prefix uisng 2 decimal places where applicable:
    A. 0,00000123 N
    B. 417 000 000 kg
    C. 246800 A
    D. 0,00088 mm
    0,00000123 N = 1,23.10-6N = 1,23µN
    0,00088mm = 0,88.10-3mm = 0,88.10-6m = 0,88µm
    E.6: For each of the following, write the measurement using the correct symbol for the prefix and the base unit:
    A. 1,01 microseconds
    B. 1 000 milligrams
    C. 7,2 megameters
    D. 11 nanolitre
    1,01 microseconds = 1,01µs;
    1 000 milligrams = 1 000mg;
    7,2 megameters = 7,2Mm
    11 nanolitre = 11nm
    E.7: The Concorde is a type of aeroplane that flies very fast. The top speed of the Concorde is 844 km·h$^{−1}$. Convert the Concorde’s top speed to m·s$^{−1}$.
    844 km·h$^{−1}$ = 3038.4m∙s-1
    E.8: The boiling point of water is 100oC. What is the boiling point of water in kelvin?
    100oC = 373K
